Half gas, half electric
About 48% of Medical Lake homes heat with utility gas and about 52% with electricity, according to the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey. We work on both: gas and electric furnaces, air source heat pumps and ductless mini splits, in existing homes and in new construction with builders and homeowners.
Homes from the 1970s to the 2000s
The median home here was built in 1986. About 27% went up from 2000 to 2009 and about 18% in the 1990s, but very few since 2010. About 64% are single detached houses, about 66% are owner occupied, and about 5% are mobile homes.
"All ways get good service from Northwest Heating. Been using them for over 20 years at home and work. They are not like the other guys."
After the Gray Fire
The Gray Fire started on August 18, 2023. It burned more than 9,500 acres and 185 structures in the area and forced the evacuation of Medical Lake and Eastern State Hospital.
Getting here
Medical Lake is about 9.9 miles and about 20 minutes from our office by road, and State Route 902 runs right through town. The town is named for the lake, whose water and mud the Spokane people believed could heal. Summers on the West Plains get hot: Spokane International Airport averages about 21 days a year at 90°F or above.
