A young town on the West Plains
Airway Heights takes its name from the runways next door at Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane International Airport. Spokane borders it to the east and south, and the drive up from downtown Spokane on U.S. Route 2 climbs more than 500 feet.
The median home here was built in 2011, according to the Census Bureau's 2024 American Community Survey. About 46% of homes went up from 2010 to 2019 and about 22% from 2000 to 2009.
Mostly rentals, mostly electric
About 71% of homes in Airway Heights are rented, and about 48% sit in buildings with five or more units. Only about a third are single detached houses. Landlords, property managers and tenants call the same number as homeowners: (509) 244-6010.
About 73% of homes heat with electricity and about 27% with utility gas. We install and repair electric and gas furnaces, air source heat pumps and ductless mini splits.
Weather at the end of the runway
The area's long weather record is kept at Spokane International Airport, about 5.5 miles by road from town and at nearly the same elevation. In a typical year it logs about 6,460 heating degree days against about 515 cooling degree days. Heating is the main job here, but the airport also averages about three weeks a year at 90°F or hotter.
"I'm a Realtor. I've used these folks several times and referred them to my clients! I would trust them 100%. They've always been honest and provide great service. Thier prices are affordable and they dont try to upsell with things you don't need. I Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed."
